Who is the VBV training programme suitable for?
For beginners, career changers and staff in sales, advisory or back-office roles who want to arrange insurance in Switzerland and require the legally recognised proof (FINMA).
Why do I need the VBV certification?
Since the revision of the Insurance Supervision Act (VAG) and the industry agreement, proof of qualification has been mandatory. By qualifying as an Insurance Intermediary VBV, you meet the regulatory requirements (FINMA compliant) and build trust in the market.
Which modules are available?
1) General skills, 2) Supplementary health insurance, 3) Non-life, 4) Life.
How is the learning model structured?
Hybrid. Fundamentals online, practice in person:
- General skills → online (Microsoft Teams)
- Supplementary health insurance → online (Microsoft Teams)
- Non-life → in person (case studies)
- Life → in person (preparation for the oral examination)
When do the courses start?
Every month. Each monthly group starts in calendar week 2 with “General skills” and finishes after around 3 months.
Where do the in-person sessions take place?
In Basel, Bern and Zurich, as well as Lausanne in Western Switzerland and Lugano in Ticino. Online components via Microsoft Teams.
Which languages are used for teaching?
Standard delivery is in German; in Western Switzerland in French, and in Italian-speaking Switzerland in Italian (dates follow separately).
How long are the examinations (VBV)?
Indicative durations according to VBV:
- General skills: 30 min. online (knowledge/understanding)
- Supplementary health insurance: 30 min. + guided casework
- Non-life: 60 min. + guided casework (property/liability/assets)
- Life: 30 min. oral (in person)
Are there formal entry requirements?
No formal school qualifications are required. You should already be working in insurance advice or planning to do so.
How high are the course fees?
CHF 150 per training day and person. Exclusive corporate training sessions: CHF 2,500 per day (flat rate).
What is included in the fees?
Teaching (online / in person), learning platform (presentations, scripts, materials) and podcasts with tasks for preparation. VBV course materials and any examination fees are excluded.
How many days does the full preparation include?
Typically 13 days (gross), depending on the scheduling of the monthly group.
How do I register?
In 3 steps – quick and non-binding:
- Choose a course (module/monthly group/location)
- Enter your details (contact + preferred start month)
- Complete the reservation → we will contact you by phone/email and send a trial access and payment link.
Is the reservation binding?
No, the reservation is non-binding. Your place is confirmed with the confirmation/payment (details in the confirmation).
How do I pay?
According to the confirmation, via payment link (e.g. card) or invoice. You will receive the details by email after the reservation.
Are there company / exclusive training sessions?
Yes. CHF 2,500 / day (flat rate), ideal for teams. Up to approx. 20 participants (maximum class size). Content/dates flexible.
Can I book individual modules instead of the full training programme?
Yes, modules can be booked separately. You can start with “General skills” and plan additional modules as needed.
Is there a maximum number of participants?
Yes, we work with limited class sizes (up to approx. 20) to ensure high quality and active case-study work.
Will I receive learning materials?
Yes, via the learning platform (presentations, scripts, materials) and podcast units for targeted preparation.
Will I receive a certificate of attendance?
Yes, after completing the booked modules. For the official VBV certification, the VBV examination is decisive.
Do you support VBV examination registration?
Yes, we provide information about the process / deadlines. Registration and fees are handled directly with the respective examination provider.
What is a “monthly group”?
A training group that starts together in a given month and goes through the 3-month process together.
How does online teaching work technically?
Via Microsoft Teams. You will find the relevant Teams access links on our learning platform.
What if I miss an in-person day?
Please let us know early – we will look for alternatives / make-up dates where available.
Are discounts available?
Corporate and volume models available on request. Exclusive training is often the most cost-effective solution from a medium team size upwards.
How does cancellation work?
The general terms and conditions and the details in the registration confirmation apply. Please let us know early so that we can reallocate places.
Are the contents aligned with the examinations?
Yes. The modules follow the official VBV profiles and prepare you specifically for the examination formats (including casework / oral).
What advantages do I get with Maklerzentrum?

Do you offer training beyond VBV?
Yes, for example IAF (financial adviser / pension adviser), Insurance Specialist with Federal Diploma, Financial Planner with Federal Diploma, as well as CICERO continuing education.
